A young girl is on her way to winning a marbles tournament until the 1942 world champ comes out retirement. He is a grizzled, old man who wears his 70-year-old newsie outfit. With no eyes and his shooters in his sockets, he dominates the game by hearing where the marbles are. To prove he's still formidable, he has someone throw a marble into the air. He closes one eye and smacks the back of his head. And the shooter blasts out at such a velocity that it shatters the target.
